RUSAL adopts a new Code of Corporate Ethics

Moscow, 3 November 2022 – RUSAL, a leading global aluminium producer, approved a new Code of Corporate Ethics.

The document was adopted by the Board of Directors to replace the previous Code which was in force since 2005 (as amended in 2007). In the course of strategic sessions and discussion of the necessary changes to this key element of corporate culture, ethics supervisors at enterprises, company leaders and labor collectives representatives proposed building a new version of the Code of Corporate Ethics on openness, ambition, care, initiative and cooperation.

In addition to the ethical values that determine the principles of doing business in everyday life, the new version of the Code also contains the highest value guidelines (a kind of "moral compass" for business). These guidelines create the foundation for an updated corporate culture that requires even greater team cohesion, adaptability and outstanding solutions in the new environment.

The new Code of Ethics defines three business ethics directions: "Creating a healthy and safe environment", "Combating unethical behavior" and "Responsible management of resources", addressing all stakeholders equally. Each chapter provides guidance on specific principles and a list of published corporate policies that cover a particular topic in more detail, with links to the company's external website in Russian and English. The guidelines directly address the company as a whole, employees, managers, members of the Board of Directors (where applicable), even applicants for vacant positions.

In the final section of the Code on compliance with its provisions, in addition to an overview of the communication tools for possible violations of the Code (including an extensive network of ethics commissioners and an anonymous hotline), guarantees are given on behalf of the company to employees and managers who report violations of the Code.
The final section of the Code contains information on compliance with its provisions and provides a list of communication tools for possible violations of the Code reporting (including an extensive network of ethics commissioners and an anonymous hotline). The Company guarantees the confidentiality of appeals to employees and managers.

“We are convinced that adherence to the provisions of the Code will strengthen the atmosphere of trust, mutual respect and integrity in our teams and set a high level of the Company's corporate culture. For many years, RUSAL has been proud of its well-deserved reputation as an open and honest market participant. The new Code of Corporate Ethics will promote the trust in the Company from the business community and other stakeholders, will help to avoid potential risks, conflicts and violations, and will work for the benefit of the Company's prosperity in the long term,” commented Evgenii Nikitin, General Director of RUSAL.

“The next stage is the implementation of the Code of Corporate Ethics. Meetings of labor collectives, open discussions with workers' and youth councils are already scheduled. Ethics supervisors are involved in the development of the special training module for employees. I am sure that the principles and values laid down in the document will be relevant and useful for everyone.”
