Volgograd Aluminium Smelter

The Volgograd plant benefits from access to the ports of the Volga River and the Volga-Don shipway, which ensures the fast and efficient delivery of the smelter’s products to RUSAL’s clients.

Founded in 1959.

The plant currently produces aluminium alloys, aluminium coarse and fine powders as well as anode paste. The plant is located close to ports of the Volga River and the Volga-Don shipway.

Linked to the national railway network.

Development
In 2017 the enterprise restarted electrolysis production after conservation. In 2018, both electrolysis units reached full capacity. The fleet of technological vehicles is being updated.

At present the plant is carrying out environmental modernization of electrolysis production, within the framework of which the APS+CWG system is being implemented in Building 5. The plans include the introduction of Eco-Soderberg technology and the creation of a pilot technology section.

Between 2016 and 2018, a project to produce roasted anode blocks was implemented at the site. At present, the production of this product has reached the design indicators.

A "SERMAS" cutting line has been installed in the foundry production which allowed the company to significantly expand the range of products.

The facility has significantly improved environment monitoring conditions, purchased a mobile atmospheric control laboratory (ACEL), and is constantly taking measures to reduce the environmental impact of production activities.
