Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter is Russia’s largest producer of aluminium alloys, one of RUSAL’s core sites for testing and is currently deploying new cutting-edge technologies.
RUSAL’s third largest aluminium smelter.
Russia’s leader in aluminium alloys production.
One of RUSAL’s key sites for testing and introducing cutting-edge technologies – the facility site is now being used to test the RA-550 cells.
The smelter was commissioned in 1985.
In 2017, a melting furnace was put into operation at the plant. This made it possible to re-engage in full production of flat ingots produced during the production of wrought alloys, as well as technological waste of aluminum in excess of 20 thousand tons per year.
In 2018, the foundry department installed a system for cleaning raw aluminium in STAS ladles, which increased the production of alloys in flat ingots by 20 thousand tonnes per year.
SAZ has moved to release and use of unified anodes. The enlarged anode allows to spend less electricity and the anode burns are returned to production (used in the anode production)
