OUR POSITION:
We are fully aware of our civil responsibility for the preservation of the life
and health of people and regard our occupational health, safety and fire protection
activities as an integral part of our business and a precondition for the achievement
of own mission to become the world's most efficient aluminium company we and our
children can be proud of.
We, guided by corporate values, effectively use available resources to ensure safe
working conditions, industrial safety and fire protection.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
- Strive for to zero injuries and prevention of accidents and fires.
- Ensure employees' health and safety in the workplace.
- Prevent occurrences of occupational illnesses.
OUR PRINCIPLES:
- The life and health of people comes before production achievements and economic
results.
We do not compromise, either for production or for profitability reasons, in the
provision of working conditions that are safe for employees' life and health. To
ensure employees' safety is a direct responsibility of managers at all management
levels of UC RUSAL.
- Full integration of the safety management system into business management
and production activities.
We implement the most efficient occupational health, safety and fire protection
management systems aimed at a continuous improvement of UC RUSAL processes and performance,
wherever possible and economically sound.
- All incidents can be prevented.
We identify, assess and manage risks related to occupational health, safety and
fire protection on a continuous basis. Every injury and accident has its causes
and can be prevented if such causes are timely removed. We stop any jobs if there
is a threat to life.
- Law compliance is an imperative prerequisite of UC RUSAL business.
We ensure compliance of our actions with all applicable laws and regulatory acts
of the states, in which we operate, and UC RUSAL commitments with respect to occupational
health, safety and fire protection.
- Competence and responsibility of employees is a key condition of safe work.
We systematically train and instruct the employees of UC RUSAL and contractors for
their awareness of production risks, safe ways of work and their responsibility
for causing situations that are dangerous to life and health. Every employee is
personally responsible for the compliance with all necessary safety norms.
- Support and encouragement of employees for safe behaviour.
We support all actions aimed at safe behaviours of employees and encourage initiatives
on improvements in occupational health, safety and fire protection.
- Mutually beneficial relations with suppliers and contractors.
We base our choice of suppliers and contractors on their ability to provide services
in accordance with this Policy and we render assistance to them in compliance with
our safety requirements. Suppliers and contractors get a reputation of partners
of the leader in the aluminium industry, and UC RUSAL receives qualified services.
- Monitoring and measurement of occupational health, safety and fire protection
performance.
We establish, measure, and evaluate our indicators related to occupational health,
safety and fire protection, thus openly demonstrating our plans and performance
in this area, including through UC RUSAL reports available to all stakeholders.
We expect to continuously improve our performance in occupational health, safety
and fire protection through analysis and corrective actions.
