Biography
Maxim Sokov was appointed RUSAL's Director for Corporate Strategy in June 2010. He is
responsible for exploring opportunities to develop and diversify the company's business as well as
enhancing RUSAL's competitive strengths to drive its market value. He also oversees RUSAL's
cooperation with Norilsk Nickel's management and shareholders. Since 2008 Maxim has been the
General Director of RUSAL Investment Management, LLC.
Maxim Sokov joined RUSAL in 2004. From 2008 to 2010 he was Director for Management of
Investment to Norilsk Nickel. From 2007 to 2008 he was Head of the Department for Strategic
Projects of RUSAL. Prior to that, he was Head of RUSAL's Department of Mergers and
Acquisitions.
Between 2002 in 2004, Maxim Sokov worked as a lawyer for the Moscow Representative Office of
Herbert Smith CIS Legal Services.
Since 2008 he has been on the Board of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel. In 2009-2011 he served on the
Board of OJSC OGK-3.
Maxim Sokov graduated with Honours from the Russian State Tax Academy under the Russian
Ministry of Taxes, majoring in Law. He also holds a Master's degree from New York University
School of Law.
