As part of its programme to boost the range and output of produced alloys, RUSAL is renovating
the casthouse of the Sayanogorsk aluminium smelter. Furbishing the smelter’s casthouse with new
state of the art equipment will increase the quality and output of produced alloys. The project will
also expand the geography of the smelter’s products consumption through creating new kinds of
alloys that are now seeing a strong growth in demand. The aluminium alloys now account for 77%
of the smelter’s overall output. The facility is expected to boost the share of alloys to 80%. The
modernisation programme also includes a complex of measures, aimed at improving the smelter’s
environmental performance.
