Biography
Valery Matvienko was appointed Head of Alumina Division East in July 2010. The division
includes RUSAL’s Russia-based alumina operations: Timan Bauxite, the Achinsk, Boksitogorsk,
North Urals alumina refineries as well the Nikolaev Alumina refinery in Ukraine. The division is
responsible for supplying RUSAL’s smelters with alumina.
Between 2008 and 2010, Valery Matvienko was the first Deputy CEO and Member of the Executive
Committee of Norilsk Nickel.
From 2005 through to 2007, Mr Matvienko was General Director of Russian Engineering Company
LLC. In 2005 he was RUSAL’s Deputy Director for Engineering and Construction Business. From
2003 through to 2005 he held the positions of RUSAL’s Director for Production Directorate, Deputy
CEO for Production, Deputy CEO of Aluminium Business at RUSAL Management Company Ltd.
From 2002 until 2003, he was Production Director of OAO Russian Aluminium Management. he
held various executive positions at the Krasnoyarsk, Bratsk and Novokuznetsk aluminium smelters
from 1998 through 2002,.
Valery Matvienko graduated from Ordzhonikidze Siberian Metallurgy Institute, majoring in
Engineering (ferrous metallurgy).
